Three Old Stars
Mickey Rooney, a child star at MGM with Judy Garland, had his 90th birthday two weeks ago. Who knew? This past week Eddie Fisher, age 82, and Tony Curtis, 85, passed away. These guys were the Justin Biebers, Brad Pitts, and Charlie Sheens of their day. Between them the number of collective marriages almost equals their average age. Their every public move was garish, celebrated in the mags and copied by fans. Yet in the end Eddie and Tony left quietly and were not a news item for more than a day. Goodbye, and don't let the door hit you on your way out seemed to be the public reaction. I hope they had fun at the top.
